Well what do you know, I'm still freelancing! And making what appears to be a success of it! I'm busy, taking on new and interesting contracts with old colleagues and some completely new ones. And, for me, that has been one of the biggest joys of the last 6 months, working alongside such passionate and inspirational people within a huge range of charities.
What I initially set out to do business wise has shifted, not dramatically but enough. If you'd told me I'd be doing so much hands-on events and project management at the start of this journey I might not have embarked on it at all. But I am absolutely loving it! I'm learning more about myself than I have done in years. Each day there is a new challenge and it is keeping me on my toes. What I may have lost in terms of an established and secure team, I have gained tenfold in working on new exciting events and projects with new and exciting colleagues. Childcare demands and an increasing workload are an ongoing juggle, but even that, when approached methodically as a mini project can be extremely satisfying. It's been a huge learning curve and one I hope continues to fill me with excitement and energy.
I feel like I'm finally getting it. Look at me Mum, I’m all grown up!
