I was brought in to fill a critical maternity cover role within the Special Events team at Prostate Cancer UK.  Not only were there events and junior fundraisers to manage but a thorough review had to be undertaken of the current structure and programme which was underperforming and in need of an overhaul.  My experience of working in special events teams allowed me to quickly get up to speed on the needs of the team, support on logistical planning of existing events whilst carrying out a thorough review of their events programme.  I produced a new strategy and programme to maximise special events activity and in collaboration with the returning manager put the wheels in motion for the new programme to be taken forward once we had left. 

Feedback received two months after completing the project confirmed that the first event of the new programme was a huge success, around 80 people attended and the feedback gathered was resoundingly positive with one guest saying he would be upping his financial support as a result of feeling so much more informed about the work of the charity, and another guest, who had already committed to leaving a legacy, instantly sending in a cheque. A big pharmaceutical company who attended requested a meeting with the team to find more ways of working together.  Evidence that 'non-fundraising' events generate funds!
